WARNING!

There is an Advert Con happening.

Description of the con:

You receive a phone call concerning an existing advert that will run on unless you cancel it.  They will send a fax for cancellation and you have to sign it and fax it back.  When the fax comes there is nothing on there about cancellation.  The Advert just has a cribbed logo - company name address phone number etc but does not relate to anything your business actually does.  If you read the small print there is nothing about cancellation.

The idea is to get you to sign so you do actually confirm the bogus advert costing £1697.  When we sent it back with cancel in big letters across it they phoned again saying we could not do that and it had to come back not written on!!  They are quite persistant and when I spoke to someone today stating we had never advertised with them so why did we have to cancel and requiring more info about the original ad he got very stroppy and hung up!!

We have reported it to the local trading standards.

There is no company name but it has City Map, Town Map Essex on the top and will have a contact name from your company on it somewhere.  The fax/phone number is 020 7681 36 81.

WARNING THIS IS A CON!

Advertising opportunity

I have an advertising opportunity that may be of interest to some Chamber members.

We are negotiating with a company that is going to produce school folder for us.  These folders will be given out to every student in the school once a year for two years.  The idea being that we get local companies to advertise within the folder.

We currently have around 1250 students on roll.

Not sure of costs yet, but if you could forward this message on and ask people to forward details to me if interested?
